The Honorable Raymond Alexander  was a teacher, a statesman and a family man. 
He was born in Dallas, Texas in 1924 and went to Dallas Lincoln during segregation. He went to the army and served during World War II in Italy. He graduated from Prairie View A&M University and from University of Southern California.
 
    He taught at many institutions in the Houston area during his 40 year career including  middle and high schools and the prison.He helped to found Project MITE (Minority Introduction to Enginnering) at Prairie View A&M University where he guided many young people into the world of Math and Science. He was elected to the Texas State Education Board in the 80's.   In 2012,  The State of Texas named a special day in Mr. Alexander's Honor.(see Below)


He taught at many middle and high schools and at the prison.
